Propagation of annular-laser pulses induced blast wave and consequent impulse impacting on a sphere areinvestigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Both the effects of laser beam size and axial offset betweenthe laser beam and the sphere are studied. Shock focusing effect is found to occur during blast wave convergence, accompanied with Mach reflection phenomena and, in some conditions, jetting effect. We expect to summarize theflow features with corresponding occurrence conditions. Furthermore, the propulsion performance is investigated aboutthe generated impulse and recovery force when the sphere tends to deviate from the laser beam.
