A general development of parametric representation for curve and surface modeling methods was investigated with emphasis on two specific applications in the design and fabrication process. Techniques were developed for the application of refined curve and surface interpolation to tool path construction in the manufacturing process. A method for graphically displaying three dimensional data for tool path verificantion was investigated. Several programs were developed to interface with AUTOCAD DXF files and to perform curve and surface reconstruction and evaluation for tool path development. Methods for communicating motion control commands are presented with specific examples from composite fabrication projects.
