Mobile computing: wireless access to multimedia applications andits implications for a campus network

The Network and Computing Services section of Cornell InformationTechnologies, in partnership with the Department of Computer Science atCornell University is sponsoring a trial for wireless services oncampus. This paper presents an evaluation framework, and we report theresults that were available as of April 2000. Some 100 students and 12researchers are contributing to the work, and it is anticipated thatthis will roll out into a distinct service offering by the end of thecalendar year 2000
