The authors present an improved model for evaluating blockingprobability in generalized connectors. The new model extends an earlierresult to allow more flexibility in specifying traffic fanoutcharacteristics and network routing algorithms. Included as specialcases are both the previous model and Pippenger's (1975) exact model forblocking in connectors. Equations are derived for computing the blockingprobability for the class of series-parallel networks. They investigatethe accuracy of the approximation by comparing the blocking probabilitycomputed using the equations with measured simulation data
