Two algorithms for fast adaptive channel allocation are proposed.Both algorithms are based on a logic structure called the index vector.The first algorithm uses the main index vector only. The secondalgorithm uses a hierarchically organized index vector, which consistsof the main and an auxiliary index vector. The main advantage of thealgorithms is a very fast determination of an available channel whenthere is a request for a call initialization or a hand-off.
