Call performance of a TDMA portable radio system with frequencyreuse

A discrete-event stochastic simulation of many concurrent callswas used to generate time histories and statistics ofsignal-to-interference ratio (S/I) on a TDMA (time division multipleaccess) link in a frequency reuse digital portable radio system. It wasfound that the variations in co-channel interference caused by thearrival and departure of co-channel calls on coincident time-slotspartially erode S/I when calls retain the frequency and time-slot thatthey were assigned at access. The results show that good transmissionquality can be maintained with low overhead in the fixed radio network
