The methodology identifies potential EMI (electromagneticinterference) problems using results from field operations, historicaldata bases, and analytical modeling. Operational expertise, engineeringanalysis, and testing are used to characterize and prioritize thepotential EMI problems. Results can be used to resolve potential EMIduring the development and acquisition of new systems and to developengineering fixes and operational workarounds for systems alreadyemployed. The analytic modeling portion of the methodology is apredictive process that uses progressive refinement of the analysis andthe operational electronic environment to eliminate noninterferingequipment pairs, defer further analysis on pairs lacking operationalsignificance, and resolve the remaining EMI problems. Tests areconducted on equipment pairs to ensure that the analytical modelsprovide a realistic description of the predicted interference
