Various image feature extraction methods are compared for terrain relative navigation applications. Qualitative and quantitative performance measures to evaluate the utility of the relevant feature identification methods are discussed to form a basis for this comparison process. A medium-fidelity terrain relative navigation emulation test-bed called Navigation, Estimation and Tracking (NEST) test-bed is utilized to generate terrain and range measurements to facilitate the evaluation process.
