An Equivalent Model of Distribution Network Expansion for Integrated T D Planning

In places where transmission and distribution (T& D) networks are possessed by one enterprise, T& D network expansion planning are realized at the same time under a total budget limitation constraint. However, integrated T& D planning problems are extremely challenging to solve due to the complexity of the integrated T& D network. This paper proposed an equivalent model of DN expansion to reduce the complexity of integrated T& D planning from exponential to linear. Case studies based on modified Garvers’ 6-bus system and REDS21 bus system demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed equivalent model by comparisons between solving an integrated T& D planning problems with/without using the proposed model.
