This paper addresses the role of software as a force multiplier in satisfying Department of Defense (DoD) needs to accelerate modernization of acquisition so it can acquire, develop and transition capabilities faster than our adversaries at the speed of relevance. A special emphasis is placed on near-term software technology drivers, software assurance and the software sustainment ecosystem.
