The application of Internet of Energy (IoE) technology and devices in medium voltage distribution networks allows solving the problem of low quality electric energy for consumers. One of such devices is a thyristor voltage regulator (TVR). This is an innovative smart device with thyristor control, which is characterized by a high-speed operation and provides voltage and power flows regulation in the 6-10 kV electric network. The article is devoted to the study of TVR regulation characteristics. The method of TVR two-zone alternating regulation is proposed. The mathematical model of TVR has been developed, and it has allowed to obtain and to study the regulation characteristics for the three main operating regimes of TVR. Finally, the output voltage regulation limits have been defined and the TVR control laws have been formed.
