Graphical Interpretation of Power Transfer for Generator and Motor

摘要

Power transfer equations describing generator action through an inductive line to an infinite bus, are some of the most studied areas in power systems. Generator control for real and reactive power is an important issue for the power grid. As the issue is somewhat obscure, the relevant equations can be better understood with graphical aids considering both generator and motor action, as described in this paper. The cases are classified into machine voltage greater than, equal to, and less than the infinite bus voltage. The currents are shown, together with variation of angles. Real and reactive power are interpreted as areas of rectangles. The resulting graphical aids and computer simulations provide insight and help with interpretation of power transfer for generator and motor.
