A three-channel spark ignition technique was developed to increase the fuel lean ignition probability in the present study. By fixing the total ignition energy, a spatially separated and temporally synchronized discharge was performed in this ignition system to increase the ignition volume. The discharge performance between the multi-channel and single-channel ignition systems was investigated in a spherical bomb with different pressures, discharge gaps. It shows that the ignition probability is increased and the fuel-lean ignition limit is extend in the multi-channel spark system at different discharge gaps. And under conditions of smaller discharge distances the enhancement due to the multi-channel spark is more significant.
