Inverse Geometric Guidance Strategy for a Three-Body Differential Game

This paper studies a differential game problem involving three agents namely Attacker, Defender, and Target. The defender uses the concept of Apollonius circle and circle inversion to intercept a high speed attacker before it can reach a non-moving target. The paper presents a geometric inverse guidance strategy for the slow moving defender which mimics the trajectory of the attacker inside a reference circle and hence ensures interception of the attacker. The paper also discusses the possibility of target interception by the attacker without entering into the reference circle by tricking the defender into the target itself. Strategies to counter such scenarios are also suggested through the use of reference circle enlargement. The efficacy of the proposed guidance strategies is shown through numerical simulations.
