Comparison of Power Quality Distortion Types and Methods Used in Classification

Identifying and analyzing events affecting power quality (PQ) is very important. Sudden increases in voltages, voltage dips, and voltage harmonics represent some of the deterioration in PQ. In this study, rough set approach (RSA), Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT) and Based on Energy Distribution with Wavelet Transform (WT) methods consisting of a combination of methods are used. With a new signal processing method used in the analysis of nonlinear signals, WT is divided into signal components with power quality deteriorations (PQD). With these components, instantaneous frequency, and instantaneous amplitude values of PQD are calculated. As a result of the study, it was observed that the WT method, which is effective in determining the changes in the sinusoidal waveform, is also effective in PQD.
