In this paper, a novel weighted block sparse reconstruction algorithm is proposed for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation in monostatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar with unknown mutual coupling. A new block representation model is constructed first by using the special structure of the mutual coupling matrix (MCM) in both transmit and receive arrays. Then, the reduced-dimensional matrix and weighted matrix are structured to eliminated the redundant rows and enhance the sparsity, respectively. Finally, the DOA estimation can be transformed into the block sparse matrix reconstruction problem. Simulation results display the superiority of the proposed method for monostatic MIMO radar under unknown mutual coupling.
