In order to reduce carbon emissions, improve food safety and prolong the industrial chain, this paper proposes to prepare the trench oil as natural ester insulating oil for use in transformers. In view of the problems of unstable sources of gutter oil, large deviations in colloidal components and ratios, and different chroma components, this paper developed the deodorization, filtration, alkali refining, decolorization and dehydration processes of gutter oil. Experimental studies have shown that the preparation of gutter oil from different sources The natural ester insulating oil can meet the transformer insulation requirements of the ASTM D6871 standard, the oxidation stability is better than the soybean-based natural ester, and it does not contain corrosive sulfur. The application of gutter oil for the production of natural ester distribution transformers on the grid is marked, and its application process and performance index requirements are consistent with natural ester insulating oil, which can ensure the safe use of the transformer throughout its life cycle. Through economic and market analysis, it is indicated that after the scale of the preparation of trench oil for transformer insulating oil, its preparation and procurement costs will be basically the same as the current cost of preparing natural ester insulating oil, while reducing the application cost and protection cost of refined oil.
