This paper approaches a Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based method to detect the power system transients by computing the performances indices of transformed signal. The detection of different transient conditions of micro grid network is always exigent due to the issue of bidirectional power flow. The transient study cases comprise fault at distribution lines, islanding from the main distribution system or grid, sudden change of load demand and switching of capacitor bank. The proposed technique determines the content of discrete wavelet coefficients for high, medium and low wavelet level and computes the absolute value, standard deviation and energy of all coefficients. Each transient event is clearly detected from the signature of results and parameters of computation tables.
