Synthesis of nylon 66 composites containing natural organic nanomaterials

1. Nature-inspired nylon nanocomposites with cellulose nanocrystals or chitosan nanowhiskers was synthesized 1.1 In situ polymerization 1.2 Solution blending with formic acid 2. Mechanical properties of the composites 2.1 Enhanced at low filler loading level (0.1-0.5 wt%) 2.2 Tunable using CSW and proper preparation methods 3. Different kind and/or degree of filler-matrix interactions was speculated. 4. Further study on crystallinity and thermal behaviors of the composites are being conducted.
