Modelling of Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief Logistic Operations with Non-Homogenous Fleets Utilizing Generic Assets

Airlift assets play a crucial and life-saving role in humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations. Affected areas rely on their independent deployment and operability as well as their non-infrastructure dependence to quickly receive the help needed. Being used in environments with extreme distances and widely dispersed populations, current rotor-wing assets find their limitations in the need to be transported through large fixed-wing aircrafts and the inability to reach certain areas at all. To tackle those challenges, an assessment of the operational fleet configuration and capabilities is required. In fiscally constrained environments, such steps have to be properly assessed and their benefits outlined beforehand in order to be implemented. The objective of this study is to provide the means for this analysis through an environment that allows the simulation of the operational outcome under various configurations including the assessment of generic vehicles.
