Information Analysis Module for Gas-Flowline Complication Prevention System

Most of Russia's gas fields are located in the North, where climate is harsh, which complicates their operation due to numerous factors such as hydrates being generated in the gas-field flowlines that connect the wells to the gas processing plant (GPP). To date, hydrate formation is detected by two basic methods, the parametric method and the wave method, none of which can simultaneously be used to assess the proximity of the current thermobaric conditions of the flowline to the hydrate formation zone, and to localize the area where sediments are already present. The paper proposes combining these methods by means of an information analysis module that is mainly intended to co-process the results of wave and parametric diagnosis so as to build the profiles of temperature and pressure distribution along the flowline, to analyze the existing sediments and the condition of the flowline in terms of proximity to the icing and hydrate formation zone, as well as to submit an expert opinion on the current flowline condition to the operator's workstation. The paper proposes the general concept of the module, its algorithms, and pairing with the GPP APCS. Using the proposed module enables real-time evaluation of hydrate formation risks, allowing the user to prevent the adverse effects.
