On the premise of developing sources of renewable energy, with a focus on the wind power plants in Dobrogea area, the current paper outlines a projected scenario of an electric power increase in the aforementioned area in line with grid connection contracts and the impact of a potential power growth might bear on the electric grid of transportation. Hereby shall be analysed the utility of having installed flexible alternating current transmission system - FACTS inside the National Power System so as to adjust the voltages in the grid's nodes susceptible to problems. The equipment to be utilised is the static synchronous compensator - STATCOM. The analysis is conducted on the perspective grid for 2022, within which 400 kV OHL Cernavod? - Stalpu is assumed, for which financing from the European Commission has been secured.
