The electric generating fleet in the U. S. is aging and fossil fuels will continue as a substantial part of the base for the foreseeable future. Cooperation between EPA and DOE is extremely important to facilitate the best steps forward in maintaining environmental stewardship while securing a reliable and resilient generating base. This is essential for a reliable and resilient grid. Realistic solutions must be based on good science and accompanying common sense. Avoiding politicized consensus opinions and slogans will help that process. Renewables will continue to increase as part of the electrical supply system. WTE is a part of the momentum for responsible use of every resource.
