This paper presents, an improved version of the Ant Colony Algorithm (ACA), for solving the well-known Economic Emission Dispatch (EED) problem, this problem aim to allocate the output generated active power of the thermal generating units within a chosen electric power system, in order not to only minimize the fuel cost, but to reduce the gas emission in this system as well, the proposed approach is implemented using the 2017 MATLAB version, and applied for the IEEE 30-Bus case study, where there are (6) thermal generation plants. The proposed Multistage Ant Colony Algorithm (MSACA) gave excellent results, the results are presented and compared favourably with results obtained from other algorithms, for the same case of study.
