A Compact Broadband Dual Circularly Polarized Slot Antenna Using a Hexagon-shaped Ground with a Pentagon-shaped Slot

In this paper, a novel wideband dual circularly polarized (CP) antenna with a compact size is proposed. This antenna uses a hexagon-shaped ground with a pentagon-shaped slot and a perturbed stub to obtain broadband CP performance. Two microstrip-fed ports are utilized to achieve dual CP radiation. The impedance bandwidth and the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth are significantly enhanced to 107.2% (3.37-11.15 GHz) and 98.5% (4.08-12.00 GHz), respectively. In addition, the proposed antenna has the advantages of low profile, reduced cost, and easy fabrication.
