Achieving Low BER with joint ICI self-eliminating and WOLA for High-Speed Railway system

In High-Speed Railway (HSR) system, the inter-carrier interference (ICI) caused by Doppler shifts becomes more severe, and ICI will result in packets loss, even may induce transmission delay or interruption between the train and base stations (BS). The existing researches of eliminating ICI are committed to improve the quality of BER and QoS. However, those work need the high requirement of signal to noise ratio (SNR), and inefficient in guaranteeing the QoS due to the lower packet loss rates. In this paper, a novel algorithm is proposed to mitigate the ICI of the HSRs. With joint ICI self-eliminating and weighted and overlap (WOLA), the side-lobes can be reduced by WOLA, and ICI self-eliminating technology can further provide a low bit error rate (BER). In the simulation results, we consider different high-speed railway situations, and it is confirmed that our algorithm achieves a better performance in minimum BER compared with the traditional self-cancellation algorithm.
