This work presents the development of multi stages and contra-rotating (MSCR) vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) an attempt to enhance its performance and energy productivity. The efforts are achieved by rising capture capability of the wind energy by additional captured area, doubled the generator rotation and enhance the number of blades facing the wind. The constructional design and experimental set up showed the effectiveness of the multi stages contra rotating technique on VAWT. The performance evaluation of the MSCR construction was obtained in some parameters such as the emf generator and the output power over some wind speeds. The systematic evaluation of these parameters deduced some achievements of the double-stages MSCR technique on VAWT system that can make almost four times amount of power output if it is compared with a single stage VAWT. Another advantage of the MSCR technique is in the energy productivity that can extract significant additional energy on the VAWT systems with every additional stage.
