This article is devoted to modeling backscattered signals reflected from the ice surface. During the study, various parameters of the ice surface were discussed. Some of them may be neglected, averaged or simplified to suitable form that can be taken into account by the model aimed to simulate reflected signals for an airborne radar system. Such model can generate reflected signals along with complete information about an ice layer. So, a precision wideband radio altimeter can be trained to measure the ice thickness, uniformity, salinity, etc.
