摘要

The pitting corrosion behavior of 304 type stainless steel was studied in 3.0% NaCl solution in the presence of 3-amino-5-methylthio-1H-1,2,4-triazole. The impact of inhibitor on initiation, progress of metastable pittings and growth transition of stable pits were investigated. Potentiodynamic and potentiostatic measurements were carried out in chloride environment. The results indicated that the inhibitor is capable of shifting the pitting potential towards more noble values and decreasing passive current density. Moreover, the mechanismhas been utilized to explain the impact of the inhibitor on pitting behavior.
