摘要

Electrical safety in a workplace can be further enhanced by designing safety oriented features and functions in various digital devices installed in industrial electrical equipment and processes. Integrated safety features can be applied as an enabler tool to further reduce hazards, risks, accidents, human errors and near misses. This paper highlights features that can be designed in digital devices which enable increased safety measures when installed as an electrical protection relay. The safety measures such as arc flash protection, graphical color display, monitoring and diagnosis of electrical assets, ambient environmental monitoring, high-speed processing, safer communications, instantaneous setting group change, simple and intuitive configuration, etc. enhance overall safety and provide reliable process operation.
