1. Navy looking to integrate 1000 V electrochemical energy storage into the future fleet 2. Storage could potentially be used in general power applications, as backup power, or as prime/buffer power to directed energy loads 3. Few have operated batteries at the 1000 V level and at the rates of interest to the Navy 4. Two testbeds have been constructed on which to study the design and control of 1000 V batteries for shipboard power applications 5. Near term plans are to utilize the testbeds to study transient voltages induced in high rate pulsed profiles and to integrate them with an Opal-RT HIL platform on which shipboard power models can be studied.
