The paper presents a new critical plane-energy model for multiaxial fatigue life prediction of metals. The Liu-Mahadevan critical plane approach is used in this model, which works for a wide range of applicability from brittle material to ductile material. Liu-Mahadevan model needs empirical calibration for non-proportional loading since it only considers strain term. In proposed energy-based model, out-of-phase hardening from non-proportional loading were taken into account automatically because this energy-based model considers both strain and stress calculation.
