In recent years power demand is increasing; it becomes more complex in power system to operate in secure manner. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) gives new opportunities to increase the loading capacity of transmission line by controlling power flow under normal and contingency conditions. In this paper, an attempt is made to find optimal location of UPFC and optimal power flow with minimum fuel cost, Also to minimize the overall cost for multi-objective function using Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) Algorithm. The installation of UPFC also exhibits the better voltage profile compared to the test system without UPFC. The IEEE 30-bus system is used as the test system.
