Different current values in parallel strings of lightemitting diodes (LEDs) cause significant threats to the system reliability and lifetime. Conventional current mirror configurations, which are used to decrease the current imbalance, require a fixed power source that provides a reference current. These configurations also fail to perfectly mirror the reference current. This paper attempts to reduce the current imbalance values without implementation of a fixed reference current source. Memristors are incorporated into the self-configurable current mirror enabling the latter to choose the string with smallest current values as reference one. Simulation results demonstrate that parallel strings of LED arrays carry the similar current values while decreasing the area and power dissipation. The proposed memristor-based current mirror configuration is preferable for small current LED strings.
