Clearwater: Storage, Recovery, and Partnership in Southern AZ and Statewide

The Tucson area's historic challenge has been to secure sufficient and renewable water supplies to meet the needs of our citizens and our economy. The completion of the Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal in the 1980s provided the Tucson region the renewable water source. And the commencement of Tucson Water's (TW) Clearwater Project demonstrated our ability to provide reliable storage and recovery. The Clearwater Project receives Colorado River water off the canal in Avra Valley, recharges the water in large basins, and stores the water underground.
