Dental magnetic attachments are devices which utilize the strength of magnets to maintain the position of a denture in the oral cavity (Fig.l). The development of the dental magnetic attachment started almost 20 years ago in the United States and Europe [1,2], but size and corrosion problems hindered it from reaching its full potential [3]. Since 1992, Aichi Steel Corporation has succeeded in developing a dental magnetic attachment with ten times the retentive force in a small-sized magnet with no corrosion [4].
