Since the early development of thick-film, Bi-doped, rare-earth iron garnet Faraday rotators, researchers have sought to improve the basic material properties relating to device design and performance: temperature dependence, insertion loss and bias field requirements. Often such improvements involve trade-offs among these and other critical properties and parameters. Presented here are some innovative solutions to improve performance.
