Today as well as 25 years ago, the only type of magnetic recording media texture is used for manufacturing of Co alloys based rigid disks for longitudinal recording. It is a homogeneous Co(10·1)/Cr(110) texture where easy axis "c" forms an angle to film plane, and as a rule this position even is not mentioned. Recently, a homogeneous Co(11·0)/Cr(200) texture with easy axis "c" oriented in the film plane was proposed to increase coercive force Hc and recording density [1]. The results of the present study allow to determine the connection between Hc, on one hand, and Cr(200) and Cr(110) X-ray peaks intensities, on the other, and to establish the optimal correlation between the latter which ensures maximum Hc values.
