Natural gas has become an important resource for people's living and industrial production. The safety of natural gas transportation is of great importance. In view of the characteristics that natural gas is transported by pressurized pipelines. This paper proposes a wireless sensor network(WSN) of natural gas monitoring. The network consists of two layers. The first layer clusters the sensor nodes according to the improved LEACH cluster head selection strategy. It also selects the cluster head to aggregate data within a cluster. The second layer of the network distributes the clusters on either side of the satellite nodes. The arrangement of clusters on each side is energy-average. Therefore, the energy consumption of each cluster head node is averaged. The life cycle and stability of the network will extend. In this paper, MATLAB is used to compare the average energy arrangement and uniform arrangement. The result shows that the average energy arrangement has a significant improvement in network lifetime.
