In the last few years, MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) Cellular Antenna systems, for call, text and high data streaming, have been developed and integrated into vehicles lines by several Automotive OEMs. The performance of Cellular Communication systems, in terms of uplink/downlink throughput, is influenced by dynamic network factors such as Network traffic, time of day, network size, and location/environment. These network factors are in contrast to an (Over-The-Air) OTA chamber Environment. This paper compares MIMO Cellular Antenna performance in field tests versus in an OTA Chamber for 2×2 MIMO Antenna system. This study compares the following parameters: throughput, SINR (Signal-to-Interference-Plus-Noise Ratio) and RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator).
