A loading cell for impact tests was constructed by using a D2 steel in conjunction with an arrangement of strain gages connected to a Wheatstone bridge. The sensor was attached to a vertical impact machine to evaluate the force and the time during the impact of a 6061-T651 aluminum alloy. A three-dimension finite element model was performed using explicit dynamic conditions (ANSYS-LSDYNA). The results from simulations were compared with those obtained experimentally
