In this paper the AC breakdown strength of a new, natural ester based nanofluid is studied. Natural ester oil FR3™ is used as the base oil for the synthesis of nanofluid, with the addition of Graphene nanosheets. The surface of nanofillers was properly modified in order to avoid the agglomeration inside nanofluid. As a result, nanofluid preserved its stability for a long period of time. Several nanofluid samples with various nanoparticle concentrations were prepared and tested according to the ASTM D1816-12 standard. The purpose of the research was to find a concentration with optimum breakdown voltage performance.
