When lightning enters the ground through the grounding device, there will be a centralized discharge channel near the grounding device. The shape, structure and development direction of the discharge channel are affected by many factors, and have certain randomness. The spatial structure of the discharge channel in the soil has a great effect on the accuracy of the transient analysis model of soil impulse discharge. Therefore, it is very important to obtain the structural parameters and their changing law of discharge channel. In this paper, based on the gray information analysis method, the volume of successive impulse discharge channel in the ground under various current and soil conditions is calculated, and the changing law with time interval is analyzed. The results show that the time interval of has an effect on the volume of discharge channel. In a certain range, the volume of channel increases with the time interval of successive impulse discharge.
