Method for the Evaluation of Thermodynamically Stable Forms of Iron Existence Using Software

Pourbaix diagrams map out the relationship between the voltage potential Eh and pH in accordance to the Nernst equation. Diagrams show how a matter changes under different pH and electrode potential levels and map out possible stable (equilibrium) phases of an aqueous electrochemical system. Pourbaix diagrams are usually calculated by hand or with the use of expensive software. We suggest a method to construct Pourbaix diagrams using Microsoft Excel. Our method enables diagrams calculation without specific software and speeds up graphs digitalization. The method is sufficiently accurate and easy to use. Achieved results correspond with other sources [1-5].
