Attenuation of parasitic high-frequency oscillations within modern fast switching power devices is of great practically importance. Particularly, such resonances lead to electromagnetic interference as well as voltage and current overshoot. Therefore, integration of snubber circuits is well established. In this work an optimized damping method is presented by using snubbers with matched resonant frequency. Here, accurate and easy-to-use design rules are analytically derived for both resistor inductor and resistor capacitor snubber circuits. Pareto efficient snubber realizations are calculated for a specific example. The validity of the derived formulas is well confirmed by measurements.
