Extended Abstract: Managing Communication to Avoid Preventable Crises

摘要

This paper analyzes the communication factors documented in well-known cases where engineering projects led to safety or security crises. From these cases, the paper extrapolates a typology of problems that may occur in the verbal, spoken and written, exchanges between engineers and managers or users. The objective of the research is to design a practical checklist of communication tasks, which can be incorporated in engineering projects in order to avoid failures and prevent crises.
