Sentiment Analysis on Arabic Tweets: Challenges to Dissecting the Language

Sentiment analysis and opinion mining are designed to detect peoples' emotions and opinions. Many public and private sectors are interested in extracting information regarding opinions that consist of subjective expressions across a variety of products or political decisions. Recently, the Arab region has had a significant role in international politics and the global economy that has grasped the attention of political and social scientists. Detecting Arabic tweets will be helpful for politicians in predicting global events based on the popular news and people's comments. Still, the Arabic language has not received a proper attention from modern computational linguists. This literature review provides a comprehensive study of sentiment analysis on Twitter data and analyzes the existing work that has been done in order to detect and analyze Arabic tweets.
