摘要

Current remarkable tendency in the cost of photovoltaic modules on a large scale has enhanced their deployment around the world. Libya has the potential for harnessing solar energy and the possibility to provide a reduction of the overall operating cost of the system and have beneficial to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. This paper presents a study of the penetration of photovoltaic generation on the Libyan power system, as solar energy exists in abundant all over the regions. Further, it also presents a brief description of the Libyan power system with its past and current state of generation and transmissions infrastructure and potential solar power plans.
