Based on geographic and regional geological study to karst area of Baise District in southwest of Guangxi Province where a 100 km long motorway would be built, the development law and characteristics of karst flaws were deeply revealed. Physiognomy, mineral ingredients of strata, evolution history of geology, and tectonics, local base level of erosion were taken into consideration to judge the possible nature, size, position, and shape of karst flaws largely. The conclusions were regulated by face geology investigation while tunneling. This is significant in two ways, for one thing, the right exploration method of geophysics would be chosen, for another, the survey data may be interpreted more accurately. For some possibilities could be excluded based on reasoning. This geology analyses predominated method assisted with geophysical exploration proved to be more effective and exact in detecting karst faults.
