A reliable operation of steam generator level control (SGLC) system is important for reactor safety. Failure to maintain water level within reasonable bounds typically results in a reactor trip, which in turn effects the overall plant availability. Many new/old nuclear power plants are intended to upgrade/refurbish aging control systems from analog to digital technology. This paper discuss the dynamic reliability analysis of a single-element digital SGLC system using the dynamic flowgraph method (DFM). The study shows that DFM offers a promising way to model the dynamic nature of a digital control system, and their interactions with the controlled variables. This provide a better understanding of a control system evolution in time.
